Life in the Peter Pan Room

Toddlers are curious, busy and full of ideas. The Peter Pan Room at our Chipping Ongar nursery gives them the space, time and encouragement to try things for themselves, build social skills and grow in independence.

Our toddler room follows the seven areas of learning in the EYFS, so every day brings a mix of fun, learning and discovery, planned around the children in the room.

What we focus on

Guided by the EYFS, here is where we put our energy in the Peter Pan Room.

Language development

Storytelling, songs and conversation build vocabulary and the confidence to speak up.

Social and emotional growth

Children learn to make friends, share, manage big feelings and express themselves.

Physical development

Climbing, building and mark-making develop strength, coordination and fine motor skills.

Early literacy and numeracy

Books, early mark-making, counting and spotting patterns, all through play.

Exploration and creativity

Nature, role play, art and music spark imagination and a love of finding things out.

Moving through the nursery

The Peter Pan Room sits between the Bambi Room, our baby room, and the Lion King Room, our preschool room for 3 to 5 year olds. Children who start with us as babies move up when they turn 2.
